The famous annual Folk Festival Week takes place this year from Friday 30th July to Friday 6th August inclusive, in a week which will see Sidmouth brought to life by thousands of musicians, dancers, artists and folk music fans. Another annual event, the Sidmouth Regatta, is due to take place at the end of August, where spectators can expect boat races, competitions, firework displays and more.

Close by, the historic village of Ottery St. Mary in the beautiful Otter Valley hosts the world famous tar barrel rolling event. Every year on 5th November, locals and visitors alike enjoy the spectacle as flaming tar barrels, increasing in size throughout the day, are rolled through the village's picturesque streets.
