It is a beautiful day here in Falmouth and hundreds of people have turned out to cheer on the torchbearer on their way through the town
We are getting very excited about Saturday’s torch relay visit!
After a weeks racing Ben Ainsle has won his sixth Finn World title. Fellow Brit Ed Wright finished second
There are now only 2 days until the Olympic Torch relay visits Falmouth!
Another event taking place is a flypast by a Sea King helicopter from RNAS Culdrose at 11.15am
Only 3 days now until the torch visits Falmouth!
On the day a 15ft replica flame will transform the National Maritime Museum Cornwall’s iconic tower by the harbour into Falmouth’s very own Torch!
Its only 4 days until the start of the Olympic torch relay and its visit to Falmouth!
The torch starts its journey through Falmouth at 10.53am and leaves at 12.01pm.
Local event hightlights include -
“Over 30 Cornish Gig boats will be on display on the
water around Custom House Quay. They will be headed up by the three oldest gigs
in Cornwall – Newquay 1812, Dove 1820 and Treffry 1838 all built by William
Peters at St. Mawes. Gigs will be coming from far and wide – Barnstaple,
Boscastle & Crackington Haven, Bristol, Bude, Cape Cornwall, Clovelly,
Cotehele Quay, Coverack, Culdrose, Falmouth, Helford, Nankersey, Newquay,
Pendeen, Penryn, Porthleven, Truro, Yealm, Roseland, Cattewater, Rock, Caradon
