Recommended Walks In North Devon:
Croyde Bay via Baggy point
Croyde, Saunton Down, Croyde beach, Baggy Point, Middleborough Hill
Distance: 7 miles approx.
Grade: Moderate, steep in one or two places
This walk forms a loose figure-of-eight around Croyde, showing you some wonderful coastal scenery, as well as overlooking Saunton Sands and Braunton Burrows and rounding Baggy Point, with some inland walking to give variety. This walk can easily be shortened by half by returning to Croyde from the beach. Only if you suffer badly from vertigo should the Baggy Point section be omitted
Arlington Court (NT)
Distance: 3.5 or 5 miles
Grade: Easy possibly muddy in parts
This walk starts you at the lovely National Trust property of Arlington Court, giving you time to enjoy the Chichester's house and contents, together with the attractive grounds, church, stables and horses and carriages. It then takes you down to the peaceful lake, with its wildfowl, and on through woodland by a river, up to the Obelisk and so back to Arlington Court. You can then extend the walk to include the Wilderness part of the grounds, returning by way of the lake.
Ilfracombe Via Lee Bay
Ilfracombe via the Cairn and old railway, Lee Bay and the Torrs Walk
Distance: 7 miles approx.
Grade: Steady with one reasonable climb
This walk is full of variety, giving an easy start on the old railway line, passing the Slade Reservoirs, continuing through farmland and down into Fuchsia Valley at Lee and out to the attractive Lee Bay before returning via the coast path and the Torrs.
Lynton Via Valley of the Rocks
Lynton via Valley of the Rocks, Sixacre Farm and Hollerday Hill
Distance: 5.9 miles
Grade: Moderate to strenuous
A short circular walk from Lynton, taking in a small section of the coast path, the Valley of Rocks, a lovely path through an old farmstead, returning through attractive woodland and passing the 1952 flood disaster cemetery
